New Citywide Wellness Program Challenges Charlotte Residents to Get FIT
Charlotte, NC - 08/01/08 - Club FIT, a new city-wide fitness and wellness initiative, encourages the residents of Charlotte to get fit with convenient and fun everyday programs.
The Club FIT program will be announcing new, free events throughout the year, sponsored by local businesses.
The launch of Club FIT begins with a new free lunchtime fitness walking club. Charlotte residents are invited to meet every Friday afternoon for complimentary stretching sessions and 30-minute walks through uptown, led by certified trainers. Completely free and open to all residents no matter what their fitness level may be, Club FIT is the newest fitness initiative to encourage Charlotte residents to live healthier lives.
Each weekly walking session begins at 12:30 PM outside of the elements fitness club located at West Trade and Church Streets with complimentary warm-up stretching exercises. The session is followed by a brisk, 30 minute walk through city and park locations, during which the group receives fitness and health advice from a certified fitness trainer on everything from the best exercises to tone arms, to how to effectively get rid of love handles, to how to get the most out of cardio workouts. The group then ends the meeting with a cool-down stretching session.
The walking club is sponsored by elements, the upscale fitness gym for women, in reaction to increasing obesity and heart disease levels in the United States and to encourage residents of all fitness levels to be more active while enjoying the sights of Charlotte. By setting the walks during the lunch hour and offering the fun fitness program for free, elements™ hopes to reach a variety of people that may not have time to fit exercise into their otherwise busy schedules.
More city-wide activities for Club FIT are currently being developed, including partnerships with local restaurants and other fitness-oriented points of interest.
elements™ Brand Director Chris Palumbo said, “elements™ is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle not just for our own members, but for all members of the Charlotte community. Obesity and heart disease levels are still at an all-time high in this country, and we’re trying to hard to think of new ways to get people motivated to live healthier!”
